Founding Forward Deployed Engineer

Stockholm·Full-time

Why this role exists.Customers buy Stilla because they can see it solving a real problem in their own workflow, and they keep paying because it keeps delivering measurable value. As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you make both true. You embed with the customer during the sales cycle and evaluation, find the use cases worth deploying, prove the business value, and make sure they actually go live, get adopted, and expand. You are equal parts technical operator and business partner. You are the bridge between “this looks impressive” and “we can’t run our business without this.”

What you’ll own. From the moment a deal gets serious through to a customer with live, adopted use cases and a growing footprint, you own technical conviction, business value, adoption, and the customer’s day-to-day success.

Responsibilities

  • Sell the value, technically and commercially. Join late-stage deals and evaluations alongside the AE. Co-pitch to C-level and VP buyers, handle the technical questions, frame the business case, and make the ROI undeniable.
  • Find the right use cases. Run discovery with both technical teams and business stakeholders to identify exactly what the customer wants to deploy, map their workflows, and prioritize the use cases that deliver value fastest.
  • Make the value land.Translate Stilla’s capabilities into the customer’s language. Connect features to concrete business outcomes: time saved, work automated, decisions made faster, costs reduced.
  • Build alongside the customer. Get hands-on in their environment: wire up integrations, shape workflows and agents to their data, and ship the tailored setup that turns a generic demo into their system of record.
  • Run working sessions with decision makers. After a contract lands, lead hands-on working sessions with business stakeholders and executives to align on goals, surface new use cases, and drive expansion across teams.
  • Drive adoption. Get end users actually using Stilla. Run onboarding, build tailored examples and playbooks, coach champions, and chase down stalled users until their use cases are running.
  • Prove and report ROI. Build the value story with data. Show the impact in terms business leaders care about, and use it to secure renewal and budget for the next set of use cases.
  • Be the first line of support.Own the customer’s questions and issues end to end: fast, hands-on, and personal. Triage, solve what you can, and escalate cleanly what you can’t.
  • Close the loop with product. You’re the voice of the customer. Distill friction, feature gaps, and what’s working into sharp feedback for engineering and product.
  • Set up for expansion. Once the first use cases work, find the next ten. Turn one successful team into a company-wide deployment.
  • AI-powered everything. Use AI tools daily to automate your own work and to show customers what great looks like.

You’ll thrive in this role if this resonates

  • 5+ years as a forward-deployed engineer, solutions/sales engineer, or in technical customer success, or perhaps an MBB consultant with a technical background
  • You can hold a working session with a CTO in the morning, make the business case to a CFO over lunch, and debug a workflow with an end user in the afternoon
  • You’re comfortable on both sides of the table: technical enough to earn engineers’ trust, commercial enough to talk value and ROI with executives
  • Exceptional communicator who makes complex things feel simple
  • First-principles operator who writes the playbook instead of waiting for one
  • Genuinely obsessed with AI: you’re using the products, not just reading about them
  • You get energy from a customer going from skeptical to “how did we work before this”

This role is probably not for you if you

  • Want a clean handoff where sales, onboarding, and support are someone else’s job
  • Prefer staying behind the scenes over being in front of customers
  • See yourself as purely technical or purely commercial, rather than both
  • Are looking for an immediate manager role as your next step
  • Don’t believe becoming AI-fluent now is the best thing you can do for your career

What you get

  • Founding GTM-team member at a company with exceptional product-market fit
  • Working on an AI product in arguably the hottest startup category right now
  • Direct access to the CEO and co-founder
  • A very experienced team who’s done it before. Each member is an ex-founder, staff/principal engineer, or founding team member of a previous startup
  • Backed by top-tier investors including General Catalyst. Based in our Stockholm office
  • Meaningful equity at the inflection point — you join as we go from working product to scaled business
